While summer is approaching, it has been reported that this year will the most traveled year ever. Most people have been stuck at home during the pandemic, there will be an increase in tourism and vacations this year, as people are eager to get out. If you are one of those people, then you should prepare ahead to put your travel fund in place! I myself am planning on traveling safely this year and travel funds are important! This is why I wanted to give you tips to build your travel fund. This post is sponsored by Chapes JPL, but all opinions are my own!
What is a travel fund?
A travel fund is a fund that is designated for your travel needs. This is money that you have either in a specific savings account or stashed at home.
Steps To Take To Build Your Travel Fund

Are you ready to take the necessary steps to build your travel fund so that you can be worry-free when booking your next vacation? Here are some tips to build your travel fund!
Open a Savings Account
Did you know if you saved $25 a week, that you would have enough money to travel to any country in the world? How awesome would that be and how is that possible? Well, you need to set a savings goal and stick to it. Whether it’s $50 a month or $500 a month, set a specific goal of how much you want to have saved for your next trip. It’s very important to leave this account alone and even though you may be tempted, do not withdraw money from this account!
I like to use the Acorns app to help me save and invest my money. It automatically takes my spare change from purchases. It also automatically invests your money in various different stocks and you can even have an optional checking account that will save your money from every paycheck. You can sign up for Acorns here and get $5 to start. You can use an app called Chime to open a savings account in 2 minutes.
Get a Rewards Credit Card

Get rewarded when you spend money on simple things like your necessities/ living expenses. Did you know that you can get flights, hotels, and upgrades for free? You can get your whole trip paid for with points! Be sure to pay off your bill in full every month to keep your credit score! I recommend the Chase Saphire Reserve and have been using it for years. I get 2x points on travel and dining, as well as trip cancellation coverage and insurance, which definitely is super important as the pandemic has shown us. The best part is also when I travel, I do not have to pay any extra fees when I use my card. You start earning with Chase Saphire here.
Cut Spending and Add Income
Cutting extra spending is a must to reach your savings goal. You can do this by canceling subscriptions you don’t need and eating out less. Using apps like Mint and True bill will help you. Adding extra income can help you reach your goal faster. I use Fetch, which is an app where you can scan your receipts for points and can redeem them for gift cards to cool places! You can get 2,000 points for signing up for Fetch when you download the app to your phone here. To add income, you can pick up a side hustle! Some side hustles such as Instacart, Doordash, Uber, or evening being a virtual assistant can be helpful to add some extra coins to your pockets!
Sell Some of Your Belongings

If you are like me and have found that you have piled up a lot of clothes, accessories, and random things, then you may want to get rid of them. I definitely plan on doing this to make some extra cash this year. You know you no longer need that necklace or earrings that your ex bought you😂.
You can make some extra cash by going to Chapes- JPL, which is a Pawn Shop in Atlanta. Chapes- JPL has made it even more convenient to get cash without leaving your home by offering online appraisals, as well as an online gold loan or any other loan, and they will let you know how much your items are worth! All you have to do is mail in your item, which is insured by Chapes, and you will get the amount of money that you agreed upon. While most people may not want to spend a lot of money upfront on valuables, Chapes-JPL has a loan option on valuables such as watches, handbags, gold, diamonds, plus more. They are the highest-rated pawn shop in Atlanta for over forty years and have great reviews! So get to purging your belongings, so you can start making some extra cash for your travel fund!

Rewards Yourself
You don’t have to make yourself miserable when saving for your travel fund. If you don’t celebrate your milestones, you may end up building resentment towards saving. I do not believe in depriving yourself, so go get that Starbucks drink or go out with your friends every once in a while to celebrate!
